• Hepatitis B can pose a risk so travellers should take regular care when dealing with needles or when engaging in sexual activity.

• UK visitors should be able to obtain free medical and dental care providing they keep prove of British citizenship such as a copy of their passport or driving licence. First aid is provided at the hospitals in Tórshavn, Klaksvík and Tvoroyri and the emergency number for the islands is 112.Travellers suffering serious injuries may be airlifted to a nearby country for treatment.
